I am Grateful – Musical FunRaiser for Nepal Orphanage

The earthquakes in Nepal were devastating.

Destruction of the Orphanage in Nepal

Temples, sacred sights, and orphanages were demolished.

In association with the Dr. Pankaj Naram Seva Foundation I had been volunteering at an orphanage for several years that was hit particularly hard. The entire roof had collapsed, and the children left in shock.

In coordination with Gary Malkin, my family, and friends, we put on a world-class “fun-raiser” musical event – to help raise money to give the children clean water and a new structure.

Here is a video where my brother and I talk about why we created this project:

And here is one of my favorite videos from one of the “fun-raising” events – when Gary Malkin performed this unforgettable song – “I am Grateful!”

.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts we were able to raise enough money to rebuild the orphanage!

My mom even hand-knitted hats for each kid, with the help of some of her neighbors and friends.

Here are a few pictures of my recent trip to visit them after the earthquake and rebuilding…
